How to Buy a PC Made in America
If you want to support US manufacturing with your next computer purchase, you have some high-quality options.

If you want to promote your patriotism through your PC, then be ready to pay a decent penny.
In a search of our survey feature on American-made technology, we found that more than 45 companies are manufacturing technology in the US, from processors to headphones. Half a dozen of them are boutique PC makers, who combine global parts with the US to create high quality PCs on our shores.
You can't make a PC entirely of US parts—we don't make some components here. But companies can and do hire assemblers, designers, engineers, and technicians to assemble and support their equipment on our shores.
The flagship "Made in America" model, at least as far as our consumer consciousness goes, is Apple's Mac Pro. Apple makes a lot of publicity about how its $6,000 and above workstations are made in Texas. However, it's a niche product, and Apple's more popular iMacs and MacBooks tend to be assembled overseas.
On the Windows side, Digital Storm, Falcon Northwest, MSI, Origin PC and Velocity Micro all make at least some of their PCs in the US. Original PC and Velocity Micro are 100% US assembled. Lenovo also has an assembly operation in North Carolina, but the company would not confirm if any models are currently assembled there.

It is impossible to buy a PC made entirely from American parts, but there are many PC manufacturers that assemble their computers in the US. Buy one and you support American employees and businesses that pay US taxes. You also typically get high quality US-based customer support and service. If you want to further support US chipmaking, get one with Intel processors, which all these companies make. Like other electronics made in America, these PCs aren't cheap, but they're all highly configurable and easily repairable, which means they're likely to last longer than your budget laptop.
Velocity Micro Vector Z35. The model we reviewed earlier called the "ideal midrange desktop." It starts at $1,379.
Digital Storm Velox. In our previous testing, we have found that the company makes power-packed gaming desktops. With Intel processors, it starts at $1,672.
MSI Aegis RS. In our review, we described it as a "fast, classy gaming tower." It is priced at $1,987 with Intel chipset.
Original PC EVO15-S Laptop. We said that an older version "delivers exceptional power in a really thin chassis." Intel-powered models start at $1,988.
Falcon Northwest Talon. The 2020 model earned our Editors' Choice badge. Models with Intel Core i9 processors start at $3,883.
